The property
"The shape of the European city owes its existence to the unspectacular principle of building houses on private plots and the resulting regular formation of public spaces, streets, or squares, in contrast to unregulated courtyards or gardens." (Kollhoff)
Kollhoff Architects followed this principle in the Dominium office building on Tunisstraße in Cologne. Completed in 2009, the office building placed great emphasis on preserving the architectural heritage of the former Commerzbank. The creation of three inner courtyards enhanced the location and created oases of tranquility. Materials from Cologne's city center were used in the construction, with subtle color coordination: sandstone, shell limestone, travertine, limestone, and tuff.
On the corner of Unter Sachsenhausen, the Merck & Finck bank establishes a link to Cologne's traditional banking district. This prominent corner office is currently vacant and available for rent.
