The property

Built between 1893 and 1895 by industrialist Heinrich Schierenberg, this exceptionally stately historic building was the first structure on Theodor-Heuss-Ring. The facade of this city palace was designed by the architectural firms (Alfred) Müller & (Otto) Grah and remains one of the most beautiful patrician mansions in Cologne to this day. An artist’s studio/storage space is available on the ground floor of the property. However, no exhibitions or other events may be held there.

This building is a historic monument as defined by Section 2 of the North Rhine-Westphalia Monument Protection Act (DSchG NW) and is listed on the register of historic monuments. The owner is NOT required to obtain an energy performance certificate for this protected building (pursuant to Section 16(5) of the Energy Saving Ordinance—EnEV), as it is generally exempt from the provisions of the EnEV.

Location

The neighborhood, located on Ebertplatz, has developed over time and offers numerous banks, shops, movie theaters, and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The Rhine is within easy walking distance. The location also stands out for its proximity to the pedestrian zone—Cologne Cathedral is one kilometer away—and its excellent public transportation connections.
The “Ebertplatz” stop is located directly in front of the building and is served by numerous subway lines (12, 15, 16, 18) and bus routes. The main train station is one kilometer away from the property. Thanks to its proximity to Cologne’s ring highway (A1, A3, A4, A57), the property is also easily accessible by car.
