From the perspective of Larbig & Mortag Immobilien, it is important to understand Germany's political past and present. An educational trip to our capital city, Berlin, is the perfect way to get to know the country better. That is why we decided to sponsor such a trip for the Elly-Heuss-Knapp School in Cologne.
On Monday, August 22, 2022, the time had finally come and the 9th graders set off for the German capital. The students spent four days together in Berlin. This gave them plenty of time to get to know each other better and enjoy an unforgettable experience as a class. Of course, they took full advantage of what was on offer and learned a lot about German history. Among other things, they visited the Bundestag, where they took part in a guided tour and learned a lot about the Reichstag building and the Bundestag. In addition, the students were given an insight into life in the GDR. A guided tour of Bernauer Strasse taught them a lot about the Berlin Wall and the Wall of Remembrance. This tour gave the class food for thought and allowed them to imagine what life was like back then.

We believe that knowledge and understanding of the political past are an important foundation for integration in Germany. We hope that the trip gave all the students a better understanding of politics and experiences that will serve them well in life.
