Real estate agents have a bad reputation and a stereotypical image in this country. Unfortunately! Because there are also "good agents" for whom the job is a vocation, who demonstrate their skills every day and regard customers as partners...

The black sheep is a thing of the past

The association with real estate agents is often generalized and clichéd: quick money with little effort! However, this should be an outdated image, because for most agents, their job is a vocation and the customer is a good partner with whom they work together. Of course, as in any industry, there are black sheep who see their job as just a means to an end, offer no service, and view the commission as the goal of the journey. According to this view, real estate brokerage would look like this: A customer contacts the agent, the agent shows the property, the customer makes a decision, and a rental agreement is signed. And then, at the end, there's the bill. Pretty dry and pretty unappealing.

When the tide turns

But even in the real estate market, there are "the good guys" for whom service is a top priority and a matter of course. But what exactly does service mean in this context? And what is expected? Below is a list of service points that "the good guys" among real estate agents like to include...

  • The real estate agent sees himself as an expert and regards interested parties as partners; ultimately, both want a great result
  • Efforts are made to conclude a contract, even if the property search takes longer. The customer should be satisfied, because ultimately they are paying the bill
  • The real estate agent takes care of handing over the apartment
  • And also takes care of the handover when you move out
  • Re-registration with external utility providers
  • The real estate agent should answer all the usual questions themselves and not pass them on to the seller. This makes the buyer feel that they are being taken seriously and that they have chosen the right contact person/real estate agent

Good service, happy customers

Service is a fundamental discipline that should be mastered, especially by real estate agents. It is not the service provided, but the customer service that sets you apart from your competitors and leaves a lasting positive and favorable impression. As in many other industries, service makes customers happy and wins them over. And happy customers are good for business!
