From January 14 to 20, 2019, Cologne welcomed numerous interior design and furniture design enthusiasts because, as every year, around 1,400 manufacturers and designers from all over the world presented the latest home and interior design trends on 270,000 square meters at the international furniture fair 2019 in the halls of Koelnmesse.
In addition to individual products from the Global, Prime, Smart, and Sleep lifestyle areas, entire living concepts from renowned manufacturers were presented in the traditional Pure area under the name Pure Atmospheres, which focused less on individual products. Instead, the manufacturers presented a wide variety of interior design concepts in their own unique styles, inviting visitors to experience the respective worlds and gain inspiration.
The imm cologne did not only focus on the topic of living. Interested visitors were also able to find what they were looking for thanks to numerous exhibitors specializing in design and furnishings for restaurants, offices, and sales rooms. Special attention was also paid to furnishing concepts in connection with digitalization. A wide variety of solutions for networked living and working were presented, all of which harmonize perfectly with current design trends and the required technical standards.
In any case, it will be worth visiting imm cologne again next year – and not just to make your own four walls more comfortable. When furnishing and designing their business premises, fewer and fewer companies are opting for classic individual offices or open-plan offices, which cram as many employees as possible together like sardines in a can. The trend here is toward work environments that offer employees a stylish and pleasant environment where work is fun. Instead of individual offices, open solutions are becoming increasingly common. The design emphasizes openness and transparency by using glass elements wherever possible and creating plenty of communal space. Office islands create the conditions for teamwork and communication. Digital solutions are in tune with the spirit of the times—especially among younger generations—and make everyday work easier. Not least because we spend more time here than anywhere else, there is a growing awareness of the importance of a pleasant and modern workplace. This idea has now also taken root among employees and has become a criterion in their choice of career.
